ABOUT ME
[CHILDHOOD]
I was raised by my grandparents in a small suburb nearby one of the most populous cities in Venezuela, Barquisimeto. There, I was bestowed with an exceptional education, starting with my grandparents who taught me the value of kindness and curiosity. Sketching cars, creating soccer and baseball teams, and designing and buildings little houses were part of my day-to-day activities.
Math, physics, technical drawing and accounting became my favorite subjects.
[SCHOOL]
[COLLEGE]
The passion for cars and designing triggered in me the inquisitiveness to enroll in a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at UNEXPO, Venezuela. There, I always complemented my academic subjects by taking off-campus courses to get different perspectives about how mechanical principles are implemented in the industrial environment. While pursuing my degree, I also started to learn how to dance professional salsa.
I had the privilege to work for 8 months as an engineering intern in the Maintenance Department at Alimentos Polar Comercial (APC), the largest and best known food manufacturer in Venezuela.
[INTERSHIP]
[WORK]
The Simon Bolivar University (SBU), one of the most prestigious institutions in the country, gave me the opportunity to lead a reliability-centered management project and another concerning lubrication of machinery. In order to succeed at work, I enrolled in a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering at UNEXPO, Venezuela. While working and taking my Master´s degree, I began to include regular exercising as a habit, learn about personal development and study English.
Industrial engineering solidified my interest in strategic management. So, I executed a master´s report to design a strategic plan for creating a sweet potato biscuit manufacturer, using a structural analysis and balanced scorecard.
[RESEARCH]
[NEW HOME]
I moved to Gainesville, Florida to sharpen my English at the University of Florida (UF) where I took 3 semesters in the English Language Institute. Likewise, I also complemented my English classes working for Aramark as a Subway employee for 2 semesters.
Apart from my experience in Venezuela, the fact of living 1,600 miles away from friends and family, practicing a new religion (Christianity) and meeting friends from different cultures helped me outline my personal strategic plan, find my niche and think of my future goals. As a result, I set three personal goals: 1) Becoming a property manager in Florida, 2) and a personal development coach―the reason why I’m back at school pursuing my B.A.S in Organizational management at Santa Fe College― and 3) impacting in the lives of 30,000 Venezuelans.
